The Aeries Client Server (SQL) Version Continues to be Popular
The Aeries Client Server (SQL) version, released in the Fall of 2002, continues to be popular for new and existing customers.
More than 75 districts have moved to AeriesCS and more are scheduled to implement during the upcoming months.
The Summer of 2006 should be a busy time as well with about 30 districts planning to make the transition.
The Aeries CS version (AKA: Enterprise or SQL version) uses a single central district database and
has the same look and feel as the traditional implementation of Aeries.
The Client Server version of Aeries (Aeries CS) provides a robust, scalable, enterprise level database residing
centrally at the district office. There is no longer a need to maintain databases for each school site.
All security and database maintenance procedures are maintained centrally and district-wide data is available in real-time.
Not only that, but Aeries CS can run across a WAN with T1 access speeds to the schools.
If you are a current Aeries customer and are interested in migrating to the Client Server
version of Aeries check out the information at the following link: Aeries_SQL_Info.exe and
review the guidlines first. Then an implementation conference call should be scheduled with Eagle
Software to discuss mutually agreeable timelines and more district specific recommendations
from Eagle Software. The following Aeries CS issues must be considered: SQL Server 2000,
Windows 2000 Server, and Microsoft Access XP (or 2003) are required. An implementation support fee will be
charged to cover the cost of the Eagle Software migration support services. Data Conversion is to
be done by the district. SQL Server maintenance is the responsibility of the district. The district
must have access to or a working relationship with a DBA or other person capable and responsible for
installing and maintaining the SQL Server and the SQL Database.
Eagle Software's CSIS Consortium Continues to Grow
Eagle Software is proud of the more than 20 Aeries districts who successfully
completed parallel CSIS Submissions for CBEDS, R30, and SNOR this year. This was the largest
group of new CSIS participants to be brought into the program this year. Aeries districts continue
to lead the latest new cohort of districts to be brought on next year being a full 40%
of the new districts being brought into full CSIS participation.
CSIS is the California Student Information
Services and has been funded by the state to facilitate
electronic student records transfer and state reporting
for California public school districts. The CSIS website
is http://www.csis.k12.ca.us.
