The Locate Functions are used to locate and display any student record either by browsing in the file or locating it by a particular record number or name.
B - Backward - The Backward function will display the record for the student whose name precedes the one currently displayed on the form. Click the mouse on the Backward button or type B on the keyboard and the preceding student’s record will be displayed.
G - Get - The Get function is used to quickly display any student’s record. Click the mouse on the Get button or type G on the keyboard. A small window will display to type a student number or student’s name. If a student number is entered that student’s record will be displayed. An error message will display if the number is invalid. If the last name, comma, and first name, or any portion of a name is entered, the first student whose name is nearest to the one entered will be displayed. The Forward and Backward functions can then be used to locate the student.
F - Forward - The Forward function will display the records for the student whose name follows the student currently displayed on the form. Click the mouse on the Forward button or type F on the keyboard.
