Welcome to the AERIES Student Information System

The AERIES™ Student Information System is a highly sophisticated software product designed to operate under Windows (version 3.1 or later). It uses the Microsoft Access relational database management system to maintain student demographics and other related data for schools.  AERIES is specially designed for school personnel who work under tremendous pressure and need quick, easy to understand, computer software. All functions are very easy to invoke, either by clicking the mouse on a "button" or typing a letter or number on the keyboard. Most forms and reports are never more than one or two clicks (or keystrokes) away!

If AERIES is not installed on your computer contact your administrator responsible for installing the software. Your computer must have Microsoft Windows and should have Microsoft Access loaded. When the necessary software is installed AERIES is ready to run. The administrator should also create an icon on the users desktop for easy access to AERIESusing the Start Menu, Program Files, and AERIES.

NOTE: To help become familiar with AERIES™ it is suggested that you experiment with the various forms in the demo program that utilize the sample database.

To start AERIES click the mouse on the icon on the AERIES™ Control Panel. From this form all functions within AERIEScan quickly be accessed and utilized. Click the mouse on a button or press the key on the keyboard corresponding to the button.  For example, press F on the keyboard and the Student Data form will display. This form displays most of the personal data about each student and has buttons to access all other student-related forms. The following is an example of the Student Data form.

To move forward through the student data table type the letter F but DO NOT press the Enter key! The mouse can also be used to move forward in the table by clicking on the Forward button. A dark border surrounds the function keys as a reminder of the area on the form currently being accessed. When the Add or Change functions are selected the dark border around the Update keys move to the main part of the form. The area being accessed has changed and that data is now being added or updated. When Enter is pressed the dark border will switch back to the function keys. Following an Add or Change may be the only time the Enter key is used working in the AERIES forms.

When you feel comfortable with AERIES a new database can be created for the school site. Data can be entered or imported from a current database and documentation is available under Miscellaneous Functions. The remainder of this documentation describes all the forms and reports available in AERIES.
